While at first glance the Kidum SEO page (http://www.kidum.org.il/kidum.htm) does not look to hold an awful lot of information, if you delve a little deeper under the surface, there are lots of interesting facts and useful information.

Kidum SEO takes away the mystery of SERPS, offering a useful breakdown of what aspects are taken into account when ranking web pages and information you should know.  There are alsoa some pointers you should consider to try and improve your search engine rankings, which are presented in a simple easy to understand fashion.

However, one of the main interest points on the site is a link to a 2005 Patent application from Google, which was registered with the US authorities. Titled “Information retrieval based on historical data“this is a must read for anybody serious about being successful on the internet.  It blows wide open a lot of the factors and circumstances which the search engines use to collate and rank their data, and while it is only part of a larger document, it is a great piece of investigative journalism.

It is very rare that such detailed and confidential information is released into the public domain (even if it was hidden at the back of a large document), and while some of the techniques have no doubt been refined and maybe even changed, the bulk of the information is still very relevant.  For example:

1. A method for scoring a document, comprising: identifying a document; obtaining one or more types of history data associated with the document; and generating a score for the document based on the one or more types of history data.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the one or more types of history data includes information relating to an inception date; and wherein the generating a score includes: determining an inception date corresponding to the document, and scoring the document based, at least in part, on the inception date corresponding to the document.

The first entry highlights the power of older domains in the ranking process, which may explain why many new sites as Kidum SEO, take some time to rise in the rankings.  This is down to the much mentioned “trust” factor.

At Kidum SEO there are many areas which will prove relevant to any site, and the simple bullet point manner in which they are presented is very helpful in SEO terms.
